Privacy and POPIA

Here is what happens with your information when you use this site.

What I collect

If you fill in the contact form, I collect your name, email address, what your enquiry is about, and your message. That is it. Nothing else is asked for and nothing is required beyond those fields.

The site also collects basic, anonymous visitor statistics through Google Analytics: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are, and which device they are using. This does not identify you personally, and it only happens if you agree to it when the cookie bar appears.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of cookies. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others are analytics cookies that help me see which posts are useful. Nothing is measured until you say yes.

You can change your mind at any time: reopen the cookie choice, or clear your browser cookies for this site.

Sharing a post

The share buttons at the foot of each post are ordinary links. They do not load anything from WhatsApp, Facebook or LinkedIn, and those companies learn nothing about you unless you actually press one and go there. Reading a post here is not reported to anyone.

How I use it

Contact form information is used for one thing: to reply to you and, if we work together, to arrange it. Analytics are used to understand what is worth writing more of. I do not sell your information. I do not share it with anyone else. I do not add you to a mailing list, there isn't one.

How long I keep it

Enquiry emails are kept while there is a reason to keep them, for example an ongoing conversation or a booking. If nothing comes of an enquiry, it is deleted within a year.

Your rights under POPIA

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, you may ask what information I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and object to how it is used. You can also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Email hello@animohq.co.za and say what you would like. I will respond within a reasonable time, and there is no cost.
